Video Navigation Environments

SAFEHOUSE (Search and Rescue)

This environment is the first of the seamless video navigation area representing the full video interactivity that is a unique feature in Eraser - Turnabout. The goal is to move through the house without getting shot and rescue the hostage(s). You will need to remove any remaining opposition. Navigation through the house is accomplished using full- screen, full-motion, seamless video controlled by you who is steadily confronted with movement choices represented by directional arrows. The arrows represent possible paths for you to select by using the computer mouse. You choose a desired direction and the computer seamlessly continues the action. You must keep a hand ready on the mouse button, however, because a shooter could pop up in various locations at any moment. Clicking on the left mouse button fires your weapon. You have to move through the various rooms of the house (keep your back to the wall) without getting shot. This is difficult to do but you can master it if you make sure to check every door you pass – otherwise, you will die by being shot in the back. To start through the living room, immediately click on the right arrow. Once you move over the right side of the room, click on the left arrow to move forward toward the dining room, but watch for the shooters, (a) to your right as you move through the living room and (b) immediately thereafter, as you enter the dining room (also popping up on your right). If you get these two, you'll have time to breathe. If you use the Ctrl-W shortcut, at the beginning of the house interior, you will move directly to the hostage rescue.
THE PROFESSOR'S HOUSE (Investigate and Explore)
In the Professor's house (downstairs), you are called upon to solve a peculiar puzzle, navigate through the brilliant, but eccentric Professor's home, and discover a series of similar objects. These objects are not obvious, however, and you must listen closely to audio clues to guide you. As before, you are given directional choices on screen, but this time the emphasis is on exploration. Whenever the navigation pauses, you can use his mouse to look for special "hot spots". By clicking on the hotspot, you have the chance to uncover bits of important information that will help to uncover the identity of the villain, the motive, and the location of the Professor's hideaway. The hideaway is a secret room filled with electronic gizmos including this computer which is an important step to winning the game.

When you first enter the house, there is a voiceover which should explain that you are trying to find clues. You should walk forward and then turn right, as if to enter the library. The first clue comes from the busts on either side of the curtained entrance to the living room. This clue will tell you what kind of objects you're looking for - then go into the living room and look for three related objects such as lamps, vases, helmets, etc. Also, before entering the library, try to click on the old fashioned record player. Then enter the library and start looking for three matching or related objects - these will change each time you play the game. When you find all three - you will be sent back into the main hall and discover that there is a secret door (now visible and open) that leads you upstairs to the Professor's hideaway where additional puzzles await.

THE CYREZ BUILDING (Race and Escape)
This is the third seamless video navigation environment. To escape from the Cyrez Building, you must navigate through a maze of floors and corridors until an exit can be found. This is more difficult than it sounds, however, because a security guard will be hot on your heels. One wrong move and you will be caught.
